Itchy breasts?

Does anyone have itchy breasts? Seems like it’s tied to my hormones. I’m 7 months with no moon time.

I am SO glad I downloaded this app. So much is making sense now. The itchy breasts is a killer. It seems I’m only good in a bra for about 2-3 hours. I never would have thought it could be perimenopause. I wonder how long it lasts … ?‍♀️

Hey what’s the app? I googled ‘ichy breast 46 year old’ and it brought me to this comment section . My breast itch is driving me nuts!!!

I have had this for a few months and also more pain monthly than before. I am 49 but still having regular but horrendous periods

I can’t believe what I’m reading I have recently experienced itchy breasts with no idea of what has caused it. I inspected my bras expecting to find a cause there but nothing. It’s uncomfortable and a bit embarrassing when all you want to do is scratch. I sometimes feel itchy in other areas of my body too – legs, forearms, neck. All seems a bit random, I hadn’t connected it with peri menopause.

I’m just the same as you

Happens in the morning, left breast only, so weird.

Had no clue what was causing it. Good to know & mine is under my right one

Me too, only left breast and morning and evening.

I am peri menopausal (at age 40) and have had the worst itching in my left breast along with horrible night sweats lately. Had no clue the nipple itching could be related to low estrogen.

Yes! Have had that for quite a while now. Even changed the washing powder thinking it was some sort of allergy. Some days are better than other but the itching is always there. Never thought of it as hormonal.

Itchy everything! My skin in general has become highly reactive even more so my neck! Have to use the most sensitive creams and coloid cream when i get flair ups. This seems to calm it the quickest. These i am getting between my breasts, behind my ears, and neck. Nearly at 1 year without a period so hoping this will calm down.

Yes, until I started applying coconut oil to my breasts. And then no itchiness! I also use a coconut oil infused organic body lotion.

I THOUGHT I HAD BREAST CANCER! But I’ve been post menopausal for years now and even after all the tests I couldn’t figure it out.

That’s the first thing that crossed my mind. I’m having a diagnostic ultrasound on that same breast because of a lump I found. There are no other changes in my breast but this itchiness is crazy, sometimes the left nipples, sometimes above the nipple.

Hi Rochelle, I hope you’re well. I’m just wondering how the tests went please? My mum found a small lump a couple of months ago, after a mammogram and ultrasound scan it was found to, thankfully, be a cyst. She now has had redness over the same breast which has been itchy, she’s 47, perimenopausal and on treatment. We have an appointment at the breast clinic on Thursday but I’m going out of my mind with worry and just want to hear of other people who’ve had the all clear whilst also having this redness and itchiness. Many thanks x

OMG! Me too. I am using cortisone cream for
the red itchy skin under my because it red/raw and itchy . HORRIBLE night sweats are to blame.

Yes I used to be so so itchy and red under my breasts. T-tree oil cream worked wonders. Every day after my shower.

Y’all help me and my itchy breasts to feel normal. ❣️

I had such horrible menopause symptoms I thought I was dying. I begged my doctor for hormone replacement therapy. I have been on it now for over a year and it has changed my life. I feel like a new normal human being. I only take 2 small pills everyday. It is so simple. I recommend any of you women severely suffering to ask your doctor for hormone replacement therapy. It’s no different than taking a birth control pill daily and the horror scary stories you hear are untrue. Do not make your body suffer. Women deserve help. If you are comfortable taking hormones do it because it’s life altering. I plan on staying on them long term and my doctor has stated it’s fine to do so.

Yes, definitely for me. I have eczema and between the hot flashes and night sweats, my skin is getting really red and blotchy all over and especially on my breasts whenever I take off my bra.

I’ve just downloaded this app – and yours is one of the first comments, I also have itchy boobs – who would have thought it was hormonal ??!!! I know how your feeling and sending you a ‘virtual’ hug xxx

Same for me as well, this as the first thing I beelined to and I’m so glad I didm

Yes defo and pain, fullness and heaviness whilst waiting for a period to come (or not)!!!

The itchiness I can cope with, but omg the pain and fullness is driving me insane ??

Nothing like having huge red scratch marks on the girls.

I experienced this for a couple years at the very beginning of peri menopause I just turned 51 other stuff really ramped up but this has been better though I still have bought a now and then. I do understand it completely though so miserable! I also have fibrocystic Breast so the pain and swelling was also rough. Especially right before a period those have tapered off now.

Yes! I googled ‘itchy nipple perimenopause’ and that’s how I found this app – thank goodness! Mine started very randomly about two months ago, and it woke me up in the night. I realised it was about three days before my period was due and put it down to that as, despite not having itchiness before, I have had sensitive nipples/full breast feeling/ some discomfort around the time of my period.
Anyway, the itching lasted for about 7-10 days, then pretty much went away, but came back again. So I went to the GP. She examined me and said she couldn’t see or feel anything out of the ordinary. Fast forward another month and the itching is still there so I now have a referral to a breast specialist, just to be doubly sure it’s nothing sinister. When I read this thread it makes me more reassured that it’s connected to perimenopause as I’m definitely experiencing other symptoms, but I still feel the need to get it checked.

I thought it was just my bra, but they all seem to do it. It drives in crazy at times as I can’t seem to do anything to stop it. I never thought of it as hormonal but now you’ve said it, it does make sense.

Same here! I now loathe wearing bras and have taken to wearing camis instead. I am an RN and I scrubs so feel I can get away with it and that it’s better than scratching under my shirt all day! I also thought it may be laundry soap or did I develop a pet allergy?! So mysterious but it’s all beginning to make sense. Now I’m getting an itchy nipple ??‍♀️

Same here im an rn also and taken to wearing vests under scrubs. If i wear a bra i look like ive been burned

Omg like crazy! After work I can’t wait to take off my bra and itch them, so weird!

Yes , I do . And I thought it was odd. I stopped using body cream on them. Thinking the cream was irritating them.
And I never linked it with menopause.

Holy crap-I’ve had one itchy boob for a year and just thought I had a spot of eczema. On the same side of my body, my hip itches too. But only on one side.

Yes, definitely itchy boobs, never connected it to the menopause! I’m 16 months in and the itching isn’t all the time and it’s definitely better than it was. Get the occasional full feeling too.

I have had randomly insanely itchy nipples, or sometimes just the one. The itching has been open me up at night. It’s all consuming. I thought it might be allergy too. And then I also get randomly intensely painful nipples like soo painful, white and erect at the tip, like they’re suuuuper cold. It makes me feel soo vulnerable and I can’t do much else it’s soo overwhelming. It has happened at work too and a dear post menopausal friend dashed out to the chemist and grabbed be some of those hand warmers that are activated by air, and I shoved them into my bra over the offending nip.
It’s such and odd symptom.
I have many others, some a lot worse than that but that one was soo strange. I wasn’t sure that was a peri symptom, but more confident it is now.

Yes, I’m going through the same itchiness too. I try not to put any creams or lotions but, the only moisturizer that helps me is CeraVe unscented moisturizing cream. I don’t know if the itching is from dryness, but it seems to help with the red patches when ever I tend to scratch my skin.

Me too. Using tons of cerave but i use the lotion not the cream. Sinks in better and doesnt clog pores

Mine are incredibly itchy, especially when I take my bra off or get out of the tub/shower

I’m now on my third year of menopause and lately I’ve been having itchy breasts too, but only lately.
So you’re not alone

Yes I have it every now and again, they can be so itchy I can leave red marks after I’ve scratched them

This is a new symptom for me this week just before I came on , now I know I’m peri menopausal , just another symptom to add to the list ?

Itchy and sensitive breasts! It has been almost two weeks and my period is one week late. I am 48. Periods have been regular. Home pregnancy test is negative. Have an appointment for blood test. My doctor says it could be menopause. So that got me searching and I found this app. Happy that I found this community?

menopause is one single day. the 1 yr anniversary of your last period. So if you are only a week late, you may just be beginning peri-menoapuse, when everything starts to go bonkers.. but it will be a year b4 you have gone through menopause. I have no idea how docs don’t know that.. I had an OBGYN tell me after a few wonky cycles “oh you are in menopause” [that was 4 years ago.. and its not actually possible to be IN it.. you just go THROUGH it.! ]

The itch is so annoying during the night. I spray Witch Hazel water and it seems to stop the itch temporarily.

I’m 27 and I have been having symptoms for around 6 years (premature Ovarian Sufficiency) and this is a symptom that I go through phases of! I can’t stand wearing a bra and the itchiness drives me mad! It’s pretty much always my left nipple as well ??‍♀️

I get heat rash on different parts of my body. Sometimes it can be super intense but I found that by catching my hot flashes before they get full blown with a frozen gel pack on the back of my neck (that’s my ‘cooling zone’) the rashes go away within a day or 2. I’ve tried hydrocortisone and CBD cream to help with the itch but since the heat from within is so intense, no topical cream has helped me.

Only my nipples and when I switched to a soap with lanolin it got better

Does anyone have dry flaky skin around the nipple? Nipple feels itchy most of the time too.

It does feel dry, more different in someway I haven’t quite been able to put my finger on, and when I look at them I don’t actually see dry skin but I know they feel different. Not sure if that makes much sense, but there’s definitely some sort of change going on in the itching is driving me mad!

I’m 51 and have started with perimenopause and I have extremely dry skin on both breasts and my left one often has flaky areas. My left nipple sunk in a bit about a year ago which was worrying but after an ultrasound they said it was just an age related thing but having multiple cysts/fibroadenomas in both sides, I worry myself to death as the left side often hurts a lot 🙁

I absolutely feel you re your symptoms! And I’m so argh perimenopause or breasts or our symptoms aren’t regularly addressed while we burrow down the rabbit hole.

Peri symptoms are insane. At least for me.

Not to take over your post. I have fibro breasts since I was in my early 20s. I just turned 50. My breasts hurt, my cycles are nuts, I basically hate all of this. You are so not alone.

Hi, please don’t just assume anything. This type of itching could well be sure to hormonal issues/ menopause but itching on one breast could be a sign of breast cancer, and a type where you don’t necessarily feel a lump. And night sweats / flushes can also be a symptom so although it may be unrelated and nothing sinister at all, please get it checked out

Yes me too! Just out of the blue!

Me too

I get this occasionally, too.

I first had this itchiness when undergoing IVF, my doctor recommended E45 itch relief cream, which really helped. Just reached the magical one year without periods and been blessed with the itchiest nipples ever!!!!! Thankfully had the E45 cream, it did help, not quite as well as before but gave some relief – stopped after a week, fingers crossed this phase is over….

Omg YES!

I’ve had itchy nipples since starting HRT, I’m peri-menopausal. Also, tonight all of a sudden one nipple became soooo sore like hot needles being stuck in it. Then after 5 minutes or so it went. Weird!

I’m having the same problem my right breast is so painful ? and now is itchy too.

Yes I do, I’m so pleased I downloaded this app it shows me im not the only person to be going through these strange and weird symptoms
Thank you ladies

So grateful for this app. I have been having itchy breast as well.

I to am experiencing this symptom. So crazy.

I’ve had the itchy breasts off and on for several years now. Period stopped 4 yrs ago,I’m 46 with 7 children and menopause hitting hard.

Wow, no periods at 42! That could be either a curse or a blessing.

Don’t have the itch but OMG they are so sensitive and right before my period, if it decides to come that particular month, they hurt so bad. Turning over in bed can be so painful!!?‍♀️

I’m scrolling through these symptoms/topics, I can’t believe how many of them are listed here that I have been experiencing. It really makes you feel “better” and that you’re not losing your mind. My husband has got to think I’m a nut ball… Every single day I am attributing something weird to menopause.

My husband too but I’m just realizing it may be menopausal symptoms… I’ve been saying it’s from new 5g towers… so I really sound like a crazy woman!

My breasts do not itch however I do feel them much fuller and nipple pain. Does anyone else have nipple pain?

I have crazy nipple tenderness!

Yes, very weird feeling for me especially since I have been small breasted. Not only do nipples hurt but overall breasts are so tender that they hurt even when I sleep on side and they get squooshed together. Anyone else experienced this?

Yes! The slightest touch hurts. I can’t even hold my child on my lap because when he leans against me it is excruciating. Recently I’ve started wearing really supportive sports bras, which seems like the opposite of what you’d want but actually seems to help a lot.

Yep. Weird, isn’t it?

I have not experienced itchy breasts but they have become sooo sensitive and hurt with slightest touch. I prefer to wear wire free bras – I don’t work for last ten years due to several different health issues so I can indulge in comfort of good, supportive wire free bra during the day and go bra-less in my nightgown. But gravity doing what it always does, undersides of breasts sweat like never ever and I hate that sweaty feeling… yuks ?

Does anybody have solutions for all this??? I’m so desperate

I’m still pre menopause I think? i go 10 months then Bam I get a period Just when I think I am done. It’s so frustrating. So I’m getting a period once a year. I get redness under my breasts and itching I’ve been told it’s fungal. It only happens when I spend a lot of time in a hot tub I have to be sure and shower after and i use antifungal powder and prescription antifungal cream

I have been getting really bad rashes under my breasts, like fungal ones from sweating during the day at work. I never used to have that problem until this past year.

I have been having perimenopausal symptoms a little over a year and got to the point I can’t stand it anymore. The itchy breasts just rescently started so I’m amping up the pumpkin seeds (started seed cycling) in my diet and using coconut oil before showers and no soap on my breasts just my underarms. Hope I start to get relief soon.

i am so glad on got on this app my right breast has been very itchy sore and itchy nipple and dry full feeling tender breast comes and goes could anyone recommend a good breast cream to stop the itching

I have itching on left side of nipple and some screen peeling also since approx 1 month ,no other symptoms. I have 3 miscarriage history of 2.5 months pregnancy .i have put oil and Vaseline and get comfort for 1-2 days ,but slight itching again come. Please suggest

I’ve had an itch for 4 months just on my right areola. I’ve had a mammogram and an ultrasound done thinking I have breast cancer. Everything negative, just a little area itching like crazy all of a sudden, ugh!

My left breast started inching an I decided to find out why. thus, I found this app! I’ve been post meno since 2011 an I am glad to respond to the comments that are very helpful to me, Thank-you soooo much!!

Get it checked out by gp, one sided breast itching particularly needs investigating

I am 53 and have noticed this last year that age spots like freckling brown spots appeared underneath my right breast and since I have been in perimenopause, the itching has started especially the right breast for quite a while and had it checked by dermatology and they said no concerns but the itching started again. I’m going to have it checked again as I am also getting more freckling that looks like a bruise. Any thoughts? Thank you.
