I keep reading that because of hormonal changes during and after peri menopause, taking care of your skin becomes more important than ever. I’m newly perimenopausal and curious what are people’s skincare routines? Specific product recommendations please 🙂

I love skin care products and I try many different brands! There are a lot of affordable options but I do tend to lean towards the more expensive products because I like luxury skincare.
My current routine is Farmacy Green Clean cleansing balm in the morning, followed by SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic serum, and La Mer spf 50 Protecting Fluid.
At night I use the same cleansing balm, SkinCeuticals Retinol 0.5 every 2-3 days, and La Mer Soft Cream. I have eye cream but I never remember to use it.
I use a face scrub in the shower a few times a week as well, and face masks occasionally when I need more moisture.
(For more affordable options I like Paula’s Choice and The Ordinary.)
I also suggest checking TJ Maxx if you have one nearby for deals. I just picked up the Korres Wild Rose day cream for $15 today, which retails for $34. I use the Wild Rose Sleeping Facial occasionally so I figured I’d try the day cream for $15. Smells really good!
TJ Maxx is great, also try their online store, or Ebay
I am rubbish at this and find that body lotion makes my night sweats worse so I’m following with interest!
Hello ladies! For my skin I wash it with just normal soap and which is dove because I grew up with dove the best moisturizers completely your skin. After that I use witch hazel let me tell you ladies witch hazel is amazing I don’t care how much money you guys have in your purse witch hazel is perfect for your skin it’s been around since the 1930s it refreshes it gives you a glow then I use collagen cream you can find it at Walmart or target and moisturize your entire bodyAveeno it’s amazing and it has oatmeal because we do have allergies during our menopause thank you for listening have a blessed day
As much as I agree with you about witch hazel, people with rosacea may want to avoid it. Tends to trigger flare ups in some 🙁
I like luxury skincare but have found an affordable way to do luxury with Beauty Pie. I am currently using their retinol range of products and am very happy. Other products I like are Algenist, and Myroo. (I use vegan friendly)
My skin is awful now . I’ve never had poor skin but at 52 I’m on HrT which has recently changed so I’m thinking it is this rather than the menopause . Going to atttend a skin clinic for some recommendations and I will share
I have been using the LimeLife by Alcone line with great results. Their products are non-toxic and many are vegan. I use the Dream Clean cleanser and Skin Therapy moisturizer, then I use the Skin Polish face mask twice a week. And for added anti-aging benefits I use One Drop Wonder mixed with Eye Arise and Sotoks. The anti-aging products are a bit pricier but a little goes a long way, so they last a long while.
I am a believer in a good diet = good skin. I struggle with this but avoid sugar if possible. I have just subscribed to Beauty Pie and love how soft their products leave my skin. Dare I say plenty of water? ( no? Me neither)
I was 52 last month and for well over six months I had horrendous spots, sometimes blisters and boils on my face. Both cheeks were red. I never had acne as a teenager and never suffered with skin problems. I’ve used face washes and facial scrubs. Also a good moisturiser morning and before bedtime. It was very upsetting. I would use more makeup to cover up to hide it then suddenly last week my skin started to improve and is almost glowing this week. I’m not on HRT. Have loads of other menopausal symptoms to contend with but at least my skin has turned a corner and hopefully will stay improved!
Wow Jo! That’s crazy. Sounds like rosacea but it’s rare that rosacea clears up completely without some help! Maybe an allergic reaction to something??? Hope it doesn’t happen again ?
Tropic works for me miracles, I use their products mornings and evenings and my skin seemed to renew itself… for the body I use natural soaps and shampoo bars and I do not need to use any lotions or conditioners.
I’ve always had DIFFICULT skin. Now at 50 every so often I think I’m seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, and then the next day some huge SGH (sebaceous gland hyperplasia) starts to brew deep on a cheek or at the jawline. Ugh. My only defense is Mario Badescu’s Buffering Lotion and one of my super favorite products, PeterThomasRoth Peeling gel. Even then, it can take weeks to months to disappear completely.
With the need to wear a mask everyday- my skin is certainly suffering more than usual (especially around my nose). I just try to keep it clean and moisturized (just not overly so).
I have such empathy for all ladies who are fighting the fight. It’s so hard to feel good about yourself when it feels like everything is keeping you from putting your best face forward and feeling confident. Plus, I miss wearing fun lip colors. ?
I know that my skin has been pretty uneven and more oily over the past year, I’m using biotin and neutogena products but definitely interested in more suggestions. Anyone?
I have always had skin issues, including severe eczema as a child and into my adulthood. I have become the “lotion lady” to my family and I have to use skin lotion daily. I swear by Aveeno Daily Moisturizer for my body. For my face, after trial and error I found The Body Shop Aloe Vera Day and Night Creme. I use all of them daily. When I have flare-ups I start with over the counter hydrocortisone creams for the itch but I also have some prescriptions if that doesn’t work. Since beginning perimenopause about 8 months ago, the hot flashes and especially night sweats caused my eczema to go nuts. Overall skin itching ( which may be a symptom on its own of peri) especially on my breasts made me a red, splotchy mess. Now that the weather is cooler, I seem to have much fewer “tropical moments” and my skin is getting better. But this has been one of the most challenging parts of menopause. I was always very self-conscious when I had eczema breakouts before. Add the hot flashes and brain fog and some days I just don’t want to get out of bed. But we have I just go day to day. Good luck to everyone dealing with it!
I struggled with acne and melasma. I had to go to the dermatologist to get on Spironolactone for the acne and I had to get some melasma cream for my face. I have been going through for over 4 years. Part of the symptoms of menopause. It’s been a ride
I too have noticed many changes in my skin, and while some happened gradually, many have been happening quickly as well (in the last 3 months or so). I’ve always been a huge fan of Mario Badescu products – I have very sensitive skin that reacts to nearly everything else – but these days money is a huge issue AND I’m also having to figure out which Badescu products will best meet my very new skin needs (and I don’t have the money to guess wrong). I had very oily skin and acne my whole life, and now, at 55, I have dry skin that still breaks out occasionally?!? I am also developing small wrinkles and the tones & texture of my skin look awful!! I’m REALLY at a lose as to what to do?!?!! Any suggestions are welcome!!
Hello
I have been using a supplement skincare product by Kallistia.
https://www.kallistia.com/
It’s worth looking into and researching the product line and ingredients. It’s definitely worth it and it is a bit more expensive. They offer the “pay in 4” option, which you can pay 1/4 of the cost at check out and set up the remaining 3 payments every couple weeks.
I suggest the Complexion kit. It’s a 90 supply. Approximately $28 at check out or $35 depending on if you sign up for auto ship.
I also use squalene oil as a moisturizer from either The Ordinary or Biossance. I find that Biossance also has a great skincare line for various ages & stages of our skin. A little goes a long way.

I prefer skincare that’s primarily natural ingredients and essential oils. Tea tree oil or eucalyptus oil is fabulous spot treatment mixed with a carrier oil such as squealing or whatever oil your skin is happy with.
Rose water is also a fabulous addition to any skincare regimen. I use Heritage Store brand. Love it! It’s also available for purchase on Amazon or Ulta websites.
I hope that something here may be useful for you as you care for and nurture your skins needs 🙂
I’m 44 and I’m peri. I have various skin symptoms. I’ve started to get bad acne breakouts, mostly on my chin and mouth area. Normally I would get the occasional spot but this is a bad flare up with multiple spots.
I get patches of dry flaky skin at the corners of my nose.
I’m finding myself trying to use make up the cover up which probably makes it worse but I feel so self conscious and like a spotty teenager!
I’m 49 & about 5-6 months now without a bleed, most symptoms have come & gone but the one that is most present now is super dry skin & itching, noticing abit of sag around my eyes & wondering what products or supplements actually work to support.. ideally natural/organic but with active ingredients.. thank you 🫶🏼
