Dealing with a different vagina

I want to ask about managing vaginal dryness and if it’s possible to enjoy sex without pain. Does HRT help return things to normal?  I feel like I’m dealing with a different vagina.

I am 45 and was experiencing same issues. Due to an inability to add any muscle (I am overweight and need to have more muscle and ability to exercise regularly) I discovered my testosterone was almost zero- I chose testosterone pellet and I cannot sing it’s praises enough. Plenty of other benefits with energy, joint pain, mental well being- but vaginal issues completely disappeared and like my 20’s again. I’m frustrated there is so little emphasis on this for women. I couldn’t believe the difference it made for me

Hi,
How did you find out it was testosterone you needed? I’ve had vsginal irritation for a few years still have issues despite using lubricant and oestrogen pessary and gel. I’m exhausted lately but don’t sleep well my back aches and my brain is foggy ?

Yes hrt will help relubricate a dry vagina and plump it up again

I have same problem. I don’t know what to do and I don’t feel I will ever be same. I’m 45 and been struggling since 38 and haven’t had sex in 2 years. I am not on any HRT and have recently started taking DIM supplements. I have tried vaginal steaming and am using Yoni eggs for stimulation/ strength and has helped a little. I feel like you but fear being rejected for the dryness so I won’t even try to date any man until I feel like my old self

Try coconut oil for lubrication. However, since your single, and need to use condoms, you can use UBERLUBE. It’s silicon based and it is bacteriostatic-so it doesn’t grow bacteria like other lubricants can.

Hi. I had this at times and came across something called SYLK it’s a plant and water based natural lubricant. It is all natural so no nasties in it. Definitely made a massive difference and you don’t need very much of it. Hope this helps.

I use it, it’s much better than k-y as it doesn’t leave you feeling sticky

HRT does not stop atrophy I learned the hard way. I went through full blown menopause at 43 and by 63 was told I have the vagina of an 80 years old. Sex can be extremely painful. I was also having many bladder issues due to the fact that HRT does not help these areas. I now use a topical estriol that helps. Speak to your doctor about your options. Don’t give up!

Thanks everyone! I will try anything at this point.

I tried over the counter vaginal moisturisers after speaking to my doctor. They were ok, definitely not brilliant. Now I use coconut oil which I find works brilliantly and is totally natural. Trying to stay off hrt or estrogen creams unless I absolutely have to. I will say that I don’t know if it’s safe to use inside, I only use it on the outer part.

Just so you know coconut oil is great and safe for inside and outside

Thank you. That’s really useful to know.

Be careful using too much Coconut oil or too frequently as it can change the PH balance of your vagina and can cause more problems. It started happening to me so I stopped using it and it’s been much better.

Pure Romance makes a really nice lubricant “just like me”. Doesn’t solve the issues that need medication to fix but could be in addition to meds.

I had vaginal atrophy so my doctor started me on HRT. My vagina feels so much better.

There are lubricants that feel very natural. I apply secretly. No pain and he thinks he’s a rock star!

I use vagifem twice a week at night before bed. This has helped me greatly and don’t take any other hrt medication, age 50

I used this and it’s amazing! However, I saw a consultant gynaecologist and he said I should not be using it as I still have womb. First gynaecologist said it was fine as it’s typical and doesn’t enter the blood stream. I felt scared to use it since. Have had differing opinions from different GP’s. I would like a definitive answer as I’m in pain. Did you get told anything when you were prescribed it? Can anyone here help?

I recently found Julva!! It’s a product by Dr. Anna Cabeca? Spelling might be wrong, but look her up!! Her product has been amazing for me! I’m almost 49 and I’m premenopausal! I hate my body in so many ways right now? I also use RePhresh occasionally, which is OTC, for freshness.

Can someone please tell me what HRT is?

Hormone replacement therapy ?
