Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

CBT is a form of talk therapy that helps you work through your everyday thoughts and experiences. Whereas other forms of therapy focus often emphasize healing past traumas, CBT gives people tools to navigate their day-to-day struggles and shift from negativity to a positive mindset. People often find that CBT helps them overcome significant struggles and manage their stress better so they can live a happier, more positive life. A number of studies have found that CBT can help treat certain menopause symptoms, including anxiety, depression, hot flashes and night sweats, mood swings, sleep problems, and insomnia.

A sort of CBT which was more like a talking therapy one to one with a trained psychologist relieved my terrible anxiety which hit me like a train. I would def recommend. The lady was in menopause herself which helped.

CBT – the answer for EVERYTHING on the NHS in the U.K. Not disrespecting the theory, however it’s not the panacea for all ills. And it’s not working for me. I hope it’s working for you ❤️

Sorry it’s not right for you but delighted that I am not alone thinking CBT does not fix everything.
I was told by a psychologist that it is pushed so much by NHS because it measures the improvement and other therapies do not.
Maybe the numbers look good because we all just want to get away from it.

Anxiety & panic attacks also hit me like an oncoming train. I think I’d reached a stage where everything came to a head and a halt. A blend of hormonal changes over the course of several years and some under lying difficulties from work I was trying to manage at that time. I was prescribed HRT which helped noticeably within a few days but I also had some CBT to complement this. I got this through work as I was off sick (anguish and panic attacks). I have to say the CBT was an excellent addition to understanding the root of my anxiety and what to do about it in the moment but without the HRT I doubt it would have been as effective alone for the symptoms I was having, definitely a thumbs up as an extra variable for wellness. ??

Best wishes,
Bev

I’m just starting on a path of healing that includes CBT and for things like panic or anxiety attacks it’s been helpful, for anger less so. I fee like I’m not even in my body when angry. And more angry more easily now. Never was like that when I was younger.

I feel that this can be about the therapist you work with, as with all talking therapies. If they work with you to ensure you have full understanding at the level you need then this could work, my personal experience has not been positive with CBT to the extent I may well run away if I am offered it again. I must state that my experiences have been of having 6 sessions and not only aimed at menopause.
